Rearranged Club Match Sunday 13th Aug 2006

Huge Bream Catch For Stewart

This rearranged club match fished on the river Avon at Whaddon only attracted 15 members but it's one that they won't forget in a hurry. And for Stuart White it was the match of a lifetime. The Chippenham angler amassed a staggering winning weight of 294lb 2oz of bream, breaking all sorts of records in the process.
Drawing a peg on the big bend in the second field, Stuart noted several bream rolling whilst setting up. So at the off he put in ten large balls of ground bait laced with chopped worm and casters at 12 meters and fished the pole over the feed.
First "put in" to the twelve feet of clear water produced a roach of 12oz but his second "put in" saw the first of an amazing 57 bream in the net.
Changing right away to a 3 gram float with .014 line right through and worm on a size 14 hook, Stuart kept the fish coming by lose feeding 3 pint's of chopped worm and caster.
Luckily, fellow club member Roger Warlock packed up after two and a half hours and provided another large keep net for the huge catch.
The last two-hour of the five hour match were his most productive and the fish were still feeding well at the final whistle.

Just 276lb behind the winner was Devizes ace Kevin Rowles with 19lb 10oz of pole caught roach from the last peg in the same field.

Third spot went to Melksham's Robbie Keepner with 8lb 12oz of roach

Avon OpenMatch Sun 20th Feb 2005
